Guild Application Form

APPLICANT NOTICE: The following document serves as your official application to a wizard guild in the Kingdom of Fiore. Please complete all sections thoroughly. Incomplete applications will be reviewed by the Guild Master at their discretion (read: thrown into the fire by Natsu).

FIELD 1: MAGIC TYPE CLASSIFICATION

Every wizard in Fairy Tail channels magic through a specific system. Your magic type is the foundation of your character — it determines your combat role, your visual identity, and how dramatically you can yell your attack names.

Caster Magic — Magic generated from the wizard's own body. No external tools required. The most common category.

Examples from canon and how they inform OC design:

  • Elemental types (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Wind) — The bread and butter. Simple to understand, infinitely variable. Natsu's fire isn't Gray's ice isn't Laxus's lightning. Each elemental wizard fights differently because their personality shapes how the element manifests.
  • Take Over — The wizard absorbs and transforms into creatures or entities. Three sub-types: Beast Soul (Elfman), Animal Soul (Lisanna), Satan Soul (Mirajane). Your OC's Take Over forms should reflect their inner nature — what you absorb says something about who you are.
  • Re-Quip / The Knight — Instant weapon and armor swapping from a pocket dimension. Erza's specialty. Excellent for OCs who want visual variety — each armor set is essentially a different character design.
  • Script Magic — Writing words in the air that become real. Solid Script (Levy) creates physical text. Dark Écriture (Freed) writes rules that enforce themselves. Great for intellectual characters.
  • Dragon Slayer Magic — Taught by a dragon OR implanted via lacrima. First, Second, and Third Generation types. If your OC is a Dragon Slayer, they need a specific dragon parent or lacrima origin. The element can be anything — fire, iron, sky, shadow, light, poison, lightning, and more exist in canon.

Holder Magic — Magic channeled through an external object. Less common for protagonists but offers unique design opportunities.

  • Celestial Spirit Magic — Summons spirits through golden or silver gate keys. Each spirit has a personality and contract terms. Your OC needs specific keys and specific relationships with each spirit.
  • Card Magic — Cana's specialty. Tarot-based effects. Visually distinctive and endlessly expandable.
  • Ring Magic — Magic channeled through rings worn on different fingers. Each ring does something different.

Lost Magic — Ancient magic types that have been mostly forgotten. Powerful but rare. Dragon Slayer magic is technically Lost Magic. God Slayer magic is its dark counterpart. Devil Slayer magic is a third variant introduced later.

If your OC uses Lost Magic, they need a story for how they learned it. These aren't techniques you pick up at the local magic shop. Someone or something from the ancient world taught them — or they found a forbidden archive.

FIELD 2: GUILD AFFILIATION

Guilds in Fairy Tail are families, workplaces, and identities rolled into one. Your guild choice shapes your OC's daily life, social circle, and reputation.

Legal Guilds (Sanctioned by the Magic Council):

GuildPersonalityReputationDesign Aesthetic
Fairy TailChaotic, loyal, destructiveStrongest guild; also destroys the most propertyCasual clothing, guild mark visible, battle damage as fashion
Lamia ScaleDisciplined, competitiveConsistently strong, less collateral damageMore put-together, athletic gear, clean lines
Blue PegasusFlashy, romantic, vainSpecializes in charm and social magicFormal wear, perfume, sparkles — unironically
SabertoothElite, proud, reformedWas ruthless under Jiemma; now honorable under StingMilitary precision mixed with personal flair
Mermaid HeelAll-female, fierceUnderestimated and dangerousAquatic motifs, flowing designs, sharp edges
Quatro CerberusWild, loud, party-oriented"WILD FOUR!" as a battle cry tells you everythingPunk rock aesthetic, animal prints, excess

Dark Guilds (Illegal, criminal, or cult-like):

Dark guild OCs are villains or antiheroes by default. Grimoire Heart, Tartaros, and Oración Seis are the most prominent. Dark guild members often use forbidden or corrupted magic and their designs tend toward darker palettes, masks, and intimidating silhouettes.

Independent / Custom Guild:

Creating your own guild is entirely valid in the Fairy Tail world. You need: a name, a mark design, a master, a building (or lack of one — nomadic guilds exist), and a general philosophy.

FIELD 3: ATTACK NAMING CONVENTIONS

Fairy Tail attack names follow specific patterns. Getting this right makes your OC feel authentic.

Dragon Slayer format: [Element] Dragon's [Body Part/Action] Fire Dragon's Iron Fist, Iron Dragon's Roar, Sky Dragon's Wing Attack

God Slayer format: [Element] God's [Weapon/Phenomenon] Flame God's Bellow, Sky God's Boreas

Standard Caster format: [Magic Name]: [Technique Name] Ice-Make: Lance, Solid Script: Fire, Darkness Magic: Dark Rondo

Re-Quip format: [Armor/Weapon Name] — often grandiose Heaven's Wheel Armor, Flame Empress Armor, Purgatory Armor

Attack names in Fairy Tail are dramatic and LOUD. Characters scream them mid-combat. If your attack name doesn't work when yelled at full volume, revise it.

FIELD 4: VISUAL DESIGN — THE FAIRY TAIL AESTHETIC

Fairy Tail's art style is colorful, maximalist, and unashamedly flashy. Hiro Mashima draws characters with:

  • Bold, saturated color palettes — no muted tones, no desaturation. Even "dark" characters use rich purples, deep reds, and vivid blacks.
  • Exposed guild marks — the mark is always visible. Placement is a character choice: shoulder, hand, chest, back, thigh, tongue (yes, tongue — Fairy Tail's mark placements get creative).
  • Fashion over function — Fairy Tail characters dress in outfits that have no business being on a battlefield. Erza wears a skirt to slay demons. Gray is frequently shirtless. Lucy's outfits change constantly. Practicality is secondary to style.
  • Hair as identity — big, distinctive, often gravity-defying. Hair color in Fairy Tail can be literally anything. Pink (Natsu), blue (Juvia, Levy, Jellal), scarlet (Erza), green (Freed). No color is off-limits.

The guild mark is a tattoo. Design-wise, it's usually a single color that contrasts with the skin or clothing. Its placement communicates personality:

  • Visible and prominent (arm, hand, neck) = proud, extroverted
  • Hidden (back, ribs, under clothing) = private, mysterious
  • Face or head = all-in, identity is the guild

FIELD 5: S-CLASS TRIAL READINESS

S-Class wizards are the elite of their guild. The S-Class trial is a character-defining event — a test of strength, intelligence, and heart.

S-Class trial design for your OC:

If your OC is S-Class level, describe the trial they passed. Fairy Tail's trials involve:

  1. A combat challenge (often against a current S-Class member)
  2. A navigation or puzzle element (Tenrou Island's paths, etc.)
  3. A partner — S-Class candidates choose someone to bring. Who your OC chose reveals their priorities.

If your OC ISN'T S-Class, that's fine. Most guild members aren't. Regular wizards take regular jobs, go on regular adventures, and live without the pressure of being the guild's strongest. There's more narrative room in the middle than at the top.

FIELD 6: MAGIC CIRCLE DESIGN

When a Fairy Tail wizard casts a powerful spell, a magic circle appears — a glowing geometric pattern specific to their magic type. It's the visual signature of their power.

Consider your OC's magic circle:

  • Color — matches their element or magic type
  • Complexity — more powerful spells = more intricate circles
  • Symbols — elemental icons, guild marks, personal sigils
  • Position — under feet, in front of hands, around a weapon, overhead

PROMPT CONSTRUCTION GUIDE

Fairy Tail's style needs explicit art direction in the prompt to avoid generic anime output:

"A young female wizard with long teal hair and golden eyes, wearing a cropped purple jacket with gold trim over a white blouse, a Fairy Tail guild mark in dark blue on her left shoulder, casting a spell with a turquoise magic circle glowing under her feet, confident grin — Fairy Tail art style, vibrant colors, dynamic pose, sparkle effects"

Key terms: "Fairy Tail art style," "vibrant colors," "guild mark visible," "magic circle," and "dynamic pose." Without specifying the style, the output will default to a more restrained anime aesthetic that misses Fairy Tail's maximalist energy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can my OC use more than one type of magic? Most wizards specialize in one. A few canon characters use two (Mirajane uses Take Over and basic Transformation Magic). Using three or more magic types is reserved for villains with stolen power or ancient beings. One magic type, deeply explored, is always more interesting than three used shallowly.

Does my OC need to be part of Fairy Tail (the guild)? Not at all. There are dozens of guilds in Fiore. Setting your OC in a different guild — or building your own — gives you more creative freedom than fitting them into Fairy Tail's already crowded roster.

How powerful should my OC be? Fairy Tail's power scaling is famously inconsistent, so don't stress exact rankings. Instead, define your OC by what they CAN'T do. Natsu can't handle transportation. Gray strips unconsciously. Juvia can't function around Gray. Limits create personality.

Can my OC be a Dragon Slayer? Yes, but the slot is crowded. First Generation (taught by a real dragon) is the most narratively rich but requires inventing a dragon parent. Second Generation (lacrima implant) is easier to justify. Third Generation (both) exists but is rare.
